Nghiên cứu này nhằm xác định đặc điểm sinh học của loài cá đối đầu nhọn Moolgarda cunnesius (Valenciennes, 1836) ở vùng ven biển, cửa sông Cần Giờ. Các chỉ tiêu hình thái được đo, đếm trên 31 cá thể thu mẫu vào tháng 11/2022. Các đặc điểm sinh học được phân tích trên 344 cá thể cá thu từ tháng 1/2024 đến tháng 12/2024. Tương quan chiều dài khối lượng (LWR), hệ số điều kiện tương đối (Kn), chiều dài ruột tương đối (RLG), kích cỡ thành thục sinh dục đầu (L50), hệ số thành thục sinh dục (GSI) và sức sinh sản tương đối (Fr) được tính theo công thức. Xác định sức sinh sản tuyệt đối (Fa) bằng phương pháp đếm. Kết quả cho thấy tương quan chiều dài khối lượng cá thể hiện bằng công thức W = 0,023 x L2,731 (R2 = 0,909; n = 344). Giá trị Kn mùa mưa cao hơn mùa khô (P < 0,001). Chiều dài ruột tương đối (RLG) trung bình đạt 2,66 (1,85 - 3,92). Hệ số thành thục sinh dục (GSI) cao nhất tháng 2/2024 (2,60%), thấp nhất tháng 8/2024 (0,08%). Sức sinh sản tuyệt đối 13.302,0 - 77.253,0 trứng/cá cái, tương ứng với cá có khối lượng thân 46,73 - 81,31 g. Sức sinh sản tương đối đạt 503.557,0 trứng/kg cá cái. Kích cỡ thành thục sinh dục lần đầu 159,86 mm. Kết quả nghiên cứu góp phần cung cấp cơ sở khoa học cho quản lý và sử dụng hợp lý nguồn lợi cá đối đầu nhọn của khu vực Cần Giờ.
